GO GRAVEL 2008!
facebook.com/group.php?gid=7248856557
I'm from Finland and I support Gravel and if anyone would just hear about Gravel they would support him. If after listening to this debate you're still going with the flock and the supposedly popular candidates then I really feel the whole world is doomed.
GRAVEL 08 ALL THE WAY!
The only thing that can stop him are the complacent and cowardly who'd rather not vote to flee their responsibility or vote for the 'safe' candidates...for pretty much the same reason.
So go to his website www.gravel2008.us/ and donate what you would spend on a latte or a movie ticket. Money and direction of the media is what it will take.
Cannot you all see that the media wants to limit your thoughts to Hillary or Obama but when you look at it nothing they are saying is new or even good for this country. We need an old school leader.
A leader who knows what politics as usual is....please fight for MIKE GRAVEL please...so my brother can have a marriage and we can be equals again.
Please don't be hungup on the use of the word "gays": "LGBT or GLBT community" really doesn't roll off the thong that easily and I don't think a majority of the people will know what you're talking about
I wanna hear more candidates, hell people in general, talk like this - not willing to sell themselves out for votes or money or whatever personal gain.
It's unfortunate that he and Kucinich don't receive more attention from the media. I hate to join the legions of cynics who assume they don't have a chance, but all the media talks about is Hillary vs. Obama. And that winds up having more influence on public opinion than what the candidates really stand for...
Gravel is the only one of these candidates who has taken on the entire government before and won. Don't think he would be a good president...then you have obviously forgotten what a presidents purpose is. I am a veteran. I have bled for my country and only 2 candidates want to treat me as an equal. The rest of you (who dare call yourself Americans) should be ashamed of yourselves. Especially Clinton and Obama. Does the fact that they are products of minority groups that are still treated less than equal not sinking in.
FREEDOM AND JUSTICE FOR ALL! GRAVEL YOU HAVE MY VOTE AND MY PRAYERS.
Well to this I respond: You have to "stop and think." Ask yourself, what are the characteristics that make a good president? Write them down if it helps. And then compare that list to the character of this man. If you're anything like me you will find he fits quite comfortably into your list of the ideal leader of our country.
Don't be fooled by the beauty contest and the illusion created by the media.
Gravel knows how to get things done. He's a brilliant tactician, and he knows this government incredibly well. His history has proven this.
Oh, and about Gravel not having a chance... That's according to what evidence? Polls you saw on TV??? Don't trust those damn polls on TV. What's the easiest way to make a candidate look important? Put their name on a TV screen with a large percent number next to it. Putting 1% or 2% next to someone's name creates an illusion that they are unimportant.
Polls are misleading and often bias, or flat out corrupt and lies. Don't believe me?
Well, have YOU ever taken a poll that was then later posted on television? Neither have I.
Mike Gravel was on top of things once again in this forum. Glad the people managed to get him invited, as it's always nice to hear him talk.
One other question. How does Hillary expect to be president while the country that we are at war with does not look at women other than second class citizens? I can name a few off the top of my head that does not like women too well, They will not respect her or take her seriously.
But his intentions are pure and that's really all that matters.
I was a bigoted hateful person once but now I stand with you all as a human being and ready to withstand the attacks of the people that I was once a part of for LIBERTY!
I was once going to vote for Clinton - But now Gravel has my vote 100%!
It is past the time we think about who could be elected, and take the initiative. Take the lead, rather than follow blindly someone who 'might' be good for us, or who 'will not' be bad for us.
I have had enough of the Dems who speak so longingly of our vote, and yet run the minute it gets a bit hot in the kitchen.
He believes in us. So why is it, that we don't believe in ourselves? Why don't we stop being in the background, and as he said.. "COME OUT" and speak out for ourselves. Voting someone in who has a tried leadership background, and is supportive would be wise, and forward thinking. Equality isn't something we watch happen, it is something we make happen!
Wow, if all those people who openely liked him spoke out, he might just be in the top 3.
Go Gravel!! (Or Kucinich).
There are thresholds of support that need to be reached for Mr. Gravel to reach the presidency. The first has already occurred: he has the base of support to get him into debates where he was not invited. How much support does Gravel need before the tipping point is reached? 10%? This is our time, if we want it to be. :)
That's what he reminded me of... a grandfatherly sort who way of being "matter of fact" and pragmatic.
I'd love to see him in D.C. but I just can't see it happening... his claws don't seem sharp enough for today's circumstances and he'd be reduced quickly, much in how the White House caused Jimmy Carter to shrivel a bit in his first 90-days sitting in the big chair.
I love to see it happen but I can't envision it taking root.
Won't be our next president, but great guy.
Edwards is not going to do damn thing for LGBT
Gravel is perfect, but like a Stanley Kubrick film, won't be recognized until 20 years later.
Bill Richardson is like a Dad, trying to accept his gay son.
Clinton was (I think) more subtle than people realize.
Obama has been careful with his words...because he wants to remain consistant. And personally, I think that once he becomes president, he will keep his promise, create equal law in a civil union, and leave it for the church to decide the rest.
