  1. If you want Gravel to be the next president of the United States you must vote for him in the primaries. Dont throw your vote away thinking your getting the lesser of the two evils. He needs all of our votes.

If Hillary, Juliani, Romney, or an Republican for that matter wins. Im gonna chop off my fuckin head or move to canada.

    The land of the Free?
    The home of the Brave?

lets make both of these true

    The people know too much,
    democracy rising democracy now.
    Rage against the machine.

    Honesty compassion intelligence guts.

No more extortion blackmail bribery division.
    Divided we fall.
  3. Mike Gravel is outspoken, and rightly so. No one else is! He's honest, and IMO has the best stance of any candidate out there.

Please check out my Youtube video of him, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4STNw0HB9cc

    GO GRAVEL 2008!
  4. This group is dedicated to those whom wish to create a true change in this country. It has the support from Mike Gravel himself, and has been approved by his staff. We wish to make our presence known. Mike Gravel is amongst the most ignored candidates in the race. But the truth is, he is the only honest candidate.

  5. If Mike Gravel or Dennis Kucinich do not become our next president I will give up my American citizenship and become Canadian.
  6. Who says Clinton and Obama are popular. 600 people polled and with a margin of error at 4%. They poll people even before the candidates have had a minute to speak. So it's just name recognition. Then people in subsequent polls go with the supposed front runners because nobody else apparently has a chance and they go with the flock. CNN doesn't decide who is the next president. Learn about the candidates and listen to these debates. Decide for yourself.
I'm from Finland and I support Gravel and if anyone would just hear about Gravel they would support him. If after listening to this debate you're still going with the flock and the supposedly popular candidates then I really feel the whole world is doomed.
  7. Mike Gravel is such a tell it like it is, no bullshit candidate. He and Dennis are the only moral candidates in my opinion. He has nothing in this for himself, was the only candidate to march in the San Franscisco Pride Parade, singlehandedly fillibustered the Vietnam draft (that would be why any boys my age reading this are not fighting in Iraq this minute!), has tons of experience, is afraid of no one, and has my vote. VOTE FOR HIM! stop being so damn pessimistic and dancing around choosing Hillary or Obama just because they are popular now and would be the lesser of 2 evils against a Republican candidate in 08!

    GRAVEL 08 ALL THE WAY!
  8. Mike Gravel is the most passionate about the issue. I can feel it in his voice and support him 100%. Hillary, Obama and the rest are playing it safe to get votes from the right..and I want my president to stand strong and proud for the things he or she believes in. be smart people. vote for gravel.
  9. The debate was outstanding concerning the issues that are formost in the minds of all gay and lesbian and transgender. Equal Rights For ALL Americans. I pay the same taxes as my hetro brother but I am not allowed to marry. Thats not the equal that I am looking for. I want a candidate who will support TRUE EQUALITY for ALL. I will cast my vote where it will do the most good. Mike Gravel with Dennis as backup.
  10. I agree with Melissa E. Kucinich should run for president until he wins
  11. WOW!!! I went into watching this as a big Hillary supporter, but after listening to Mike he has without a doubt earned my vote! Mike is the only candidate who will not allow a water downed version of gay marriage. His strong convictions on gay rights, health care, the war on drugs and the war in Iraq have finally giving me a feeling of comfort. Mr. Gravel deserves to be president!
  12. He was amazing at this debate! Given a fair moment to speak, he erases any doubt about his worthiness to be president. I can see noone more fit.
The only thing that can stop him are the complacent and cowardly who'd rather not vote to flee their responsibility or vote for the 'safe' candidates...for pretty much the same reason.
  13. WAKE UP!!! It seems to me that there is only one candidate for this community or really any community to support. MIKE GRAVEL speaks with honor and intelligence. He is the beginning of what will be a long road and even a longer road if we elect someone else.

So go to his website www.gravel2008.us/ and donate what you would spend on a latte or a movie ticket. Money and direction of the media is what it will take.

Cannot you all see that the media wants to limit your thoughts to Hillary or Obama but when you look at it nothing they are saying is new or even good for this country. We need an old school leader.

A leader who knows what politics as usual is....please fight for MIKE GRAVEL please...so my brother can have a marriage and we can be equals again.
  14. Guys please help donate, as little as $5 goes a long way. This guy has your best interests and the interests of the world at heart. Even as a South African I have donated to his cause, the world is tired of politics as usual, we need people like him to set an example.
  15. Guys please help donate, as little as $5 goes a long way. This guy has your best interests and the interests of the world at heart. Even as a South African I have donated to his cause, the world is tired of politics as usual, we need people like him to set an example.
  16. Mike would lead America into it's next evolution, America needs to become progressive, the only one who will really fight for that is Gravel.

Please don't be hungup on the use of the word "gays": "LGBT or GLBT community" really doesn't roll off the thong that easily and I don't think a majority of the people will know what you're talking about
  17. It was exciting to hear a political figure speak fearlessly. Hillary and Obama did not sound like leaders in comparison.
  18. "I don't WANT those votes!"
I wanna hear more candidates, hell people in general, talk like this - not willing to sell themselves out for votes or money or whatever personal gain.

It's unfortunate that he and Kucinich don't receive more attention from the media. I hate to join the legions of cynics who assume they don't have a chance, but all the media talks about is Hillary vs. Obama. And that winds up having more influence on public opinion than what the candidates really stand for...
  19. For all of the candidates who push civil union; SEPARATE BUT EQUAL HAS BEEN UNCONSTITUTIONAL FOR 50 YEARS! And yes it is the same thing. Doesn't matter how you try to twist it, it is the SAME THING!
Gravel is the only one of these candidates who has taken on the entire government before and won. Don't think he would be a good president...then you have obviously forgotten what a presidents purpose is. I am a veteran. I have bled for my country and only 2 candidates want to treat me as an equal. The rest of you (who dare call yourself Americans) should be ashamed of yourselves. Especially Clinton and Obama. Does the fact that they are products of minority groups that are still treated less than equal not sinking in.
FREEDOM AND JUSTICE FOR ALL! GRAVEL YOU HAVE MY VOTE AND MY PRAYERS.
  20. I've noticed some comments such as, "I like Gravel, but I don't think he'd be a good president."

Well to this I respond: You have to "stop and think." Ask yourself, what are the characteristics that make a good president? Write them down if it helps. And then compare that list to the character of this man. If you're anything like me you will find he fits quite comfortably into your list of the ideal leader of our country.

Don't be fooled by the beauty contest and the illusion created by the media.

Gravel knows how to get things done. He's a brilliant tactician, and he knows this government incredibly well. His history has proven this.

Oh, and about Gravel not having a chance... That's according to what evidence? Polls you saw on TV??? Don't trust those damn polls on TV. What's the easiest way to make a candidate look important? Put their name on a TV screen with a large percent number next to it. Putting 1% or 2% next to someone's name creates an illusion that they are unimportant.

Polls are misleading and often bias, or flat out corrupt and lies. Don't believe me?

Well, have YOU ever taken a poll that was then later posted on television? Neither have I.
  21. Gravel 08!

Mike Gravel was on top of things once again in this forum. Glad the people managed to get him invited, as it's always nice to hear him talk.
  22. 4 Years of Bush Sr. 8 Years of Bill Clinton. 8 Years of Bush Jr. And now Hillary wants in? What is this a monarchy? The only two candidates I have seen worth while is Mike Gravel and Dennis Kuncinich. I hope Mike makes it to the primaries, he will definitely have my vote. If not I will vote for Kuncinich. Wouldn't it be great if they ran on the same ticket?
One other question. How does Hillary expect to be president while the country that we are at war with does not look at women other than second class citizens? I can name a few off the top of my head that does not like women too well, They will not respect her or take her seriously.
  23. I just wish people would please stop saying Gravel will never win because of this or that. He will never win if people don't fight for him to win. VOTE! Get the word out. Stand up for him because he will most definitely stand up for you! Human/Civil rights is a huge issue in this country. Along with the horrible war in Iraq, and corrupt systems of power. We as citizens have allowed way too much control, and have lost the goodness that has separated this country from all the rest. When you stand back and look at other countries in comparison to the US today we look like something from the dark ages. Whether it be health care, drugs, taxes, laws, or just basic equal human rights. Gravel has the know how and leadership skills to move this country forward. He fights for what is right. Please fight for him! He needs your vote and your support. Please do not blindly follow after someone just because they may have a better chance. Follow after a true leader. VOTE for MIKE GRAVEL!
  24. He says "gays" because he's not used to having enough time in debates to say "people in the L G B T community" without being cut off. Also he's dyslexic...and old.

But his intentions are pure and that's really all that matters.
  25. Of all the candidates out there, I honestly think that Gravel is a serious contender. What this country needs is a leader whose going to shake things up a little. We've fallen into this ideology that our leader is just a figurehead, like the queen of england; There just for show, to give the idea that someone is running the country. But this isn't true, the president shapes the rest of the governmental body. So in order to have a competant government, we need a competant leader, and here he is.
  26. I am a straight married Gravel supporter and I have to tell all of you that as a recovering Neo-Con Mike is the guy that will never abandon your cause.
I was a bigoted hateful person once but now I stand with you all as a human being and ready to withstand the attacks of the people that I was once a part of for LIBERTY!
  27. America needs Gravel!!he's a hero
  28. Mike Gravel is the most honest Democratic candidate there is. I love how he's so upfront with the issues and doesn't dance around them. For all the Mike Gravel supporters, i urge you to be active in his campaign. Join a local meetup group, pass out flyers, wave signs, etc. Raise awareness of his campaign anyway you can. Be active!
  29. I will be voting for Gravel! He changed my mind in a big way. It's time for a real change. It's time to come out of the closet. It's time to move forward.

I was once going to vote for Clinton - But now Gravel has my vote 100%!
  30. Gravel spoke with integrity and honesty. He put his views forward, and he put himself out there for the GLBT Community, which he has supported for many years, versus those who are simply 'courting' our vote.

It is past the time we think about who could be elected, and take the initiative. Take the lead, rather than follow blindly someone who 'might' be good for us, or who 'will not' be bad for us.

I have had enough of the Dems who speak so longingly of our vote, and yet run the minute it gets a bit hot in the kitchen.

He believes in us. So why is it, that we don't believe in ourselves? Why don't we stop being in the background, and as he said.. "COME OUT" and speak out for ourselves. Voting someone in who has a tried leadership background, and is supportive would be wise, and forward thinking. Equality isn't something we watch happen, it is something we make happen!
  31. See? This is what Gravel is like when you actually sit down and talk with him for an extended period of time. In the debates where he is ignored for ten minutes, then only given 30 seconds to speak, of course he is going to be a little angry. But those extreme close ups CNN always gave him are no accident. They want to squash his candidacy in any way they can. I can only hope Gravel lives long enough to see when everybody else sees he was right this time around too
  32. ...I'm a little disappointed to see soooo many people say, "He'd be great, but I don't think he'd win, unfortunately."

Wow, if all those people who openely liked him spoke out, he might just be in the top 3.

    Go Gravel!! (Or Kucinich).
  33. It is truly time to transcend our media-biased thinking for what makes a "good" president and stand up for ourselves. Mike Gravel has the experience to lead this nation. Why should we have to wait four, eight, 20 more years for someone else like him to come along? How deep to we have to get before we believe an honest, respectful, and informed debate is what we, as a nation, deserve?

There are thresholds of support that need to be reached for Mr. Gravel to reach the presidency. The first has already occurred: he has the base of support to get him into debates where he was not invited. How much support does Gravel need before the tipping point is reached? 10%? This is our time, if we want it to be. :)
  34. I just loved grandpa!

That's what he reminded me of... a grandfatherly sort who way of being "matter of fact" and pragmatic.

I'd love to see him in D.C. but I just can't see it happening... his claws don't seem sharp enough for today's circumstances and he'd be reduced quickly, much in how the White House caused Jimmy Carter to shrivel a bit in his first 90-days sitting in the big chair.

I love to see it happen but I can't envision it taking root.
  35. Like I said elsewhere, tonight we got to see Gravel the sweet old man, as opposed to the angry yelling one we've been seeing lately.

Won't be our next president, but great guy.
  36. Dennis is the ruler of a distant fantasy kingdom.

Edwards is not going to do damn thing for LGBT

Gravel is perfect, but like a Stanley Kubrick film, won't be recognized until 20 years later.

Bill Richardson is like a Dad, trying to accept his gay son.

Clinton was (I think) more subtle than people realize.

Obama has been careful with his words...because he wants to remain consistant. And personally, I think that once he becomes president, he will keep his promise, create equal law in a civil union, and leave it for the church to decide the rest.
  37. He's a no non-sense kind of guy. Tells it like it is. I was impressed that he didn't have a problem letting HRC's Joe Salamander know that HRC was wrong for not inviting him in the first place. Mike Gravel, even though I know you won't win because even if every single LGBT person in America voted for you it still wouldn't be enough to overcome the numbers that Obama/Clinton will get, YOU HAVE MY VOTE SIR.
  38. Why not, Bridget? Have you read of what he's done as senator? Or his policy in other areas, like energy and the environment? The more I read (and I've only started) the more impressed I am.
  39. I think he's the best. Why can't the other candidates step up to plate like he does ? The others all get scared and tip-toe around GLBT marriage- I am so sick of that whole-'separate-but-equal' bullshit that is the civil union. He's got my vote!
  40. I love Mike Gravel. Would love to see him as President.
  41. Wow, nice interview. Honestly, I'd rather see Gravel than Hillary as President.
  42. Why wouldn't he make a good President? If you listen to him on all the issues, watch his youtube videos/interviews he makes a lot of sense on a lot of issues more so than Obama, Clinton, Edwards, Richardson, etc. Him and Kucinich are the ones that really make the MOST sense. Then after them it's Obama.
  43. We need more candidates with an open mind like him. Although I don't know how good of a president he would be, I respect his views and they way he conveys them.
  44. Gravel has got it right on gay marriage, health care, the war on drugs and Iraq. Definitely someone worthy of my vote.
  45. Mike Gravel is amazing! Ever since I saw him at the first debate I knew he was something special. He simply tells it how it is, he doesn't worry about what everyone will think of him, he just does the right thing. He understands what is right and he is willing to actually do something about it by becoming president.
  46. Great and so comforting. Love. What's up with the use of "gays?" That does reveal his age a bit!
  47. I like Gravel. I wish he were my grandfather! However, I don't think he would make a very good president.
