What Should Ellen Ask Hillary?

ellendegeneresset.jpg

Hillary Clinton is Ellen DeGeneres’ first guest this season. And she’s asking you to tell her what she should ask the Senator, in her own, very Ellen sort of way.

Write your Hillary question here.

The Hillary camp has decided this is a good idea…so they’re soliciting questions that Hillary should ask Ellen.

Ask your Ellen question here.

And hey, you might as well leave a comment and tell us what you’re planning on asking.

You can leave a response or trackback from your own site.

  1. I would Thank Hillary for Domestic Partnership and thank her for marching with us in New Yorks Gay Pride. All I want is to be protected when I am in a commited relationship! I would love civil union, but when will it be passed?
  2. Murderers, rapists, & child-molesters can marry. Why not law-abiding taxpayers, who obey this country's laws?
  3. Being an American, shouldn't ALL LEGAL citizens have the same RIGHTS? Isn't Marriage a RIGHT under the constitution? Where are the RIGHTS for the LGBT comminity? I'm backing Hillary to the HILT, but I want to know some answers before Jan 19th, I am a Pricinct Captian for her in NAVADA. The State Cacus is Jan. 19th, 2008
  4. I just wish SOMEBODY would get clear answers from Hillary. Ellen needs to ask her questions that can be answered with a resounding "yes" or "no." Republicans do this all the time in their black and white worlds. Democrats have always had a hard time being so clear.
  5. Clearly it makes no difference to ask about marriage rights or gay adoption rights as Hillary and the other candidates have made their ideas clearly known. If it were possible to vote for Kucinich I would certainly do that, but we would be stuck with another republican in office. The leading candidates in the Democratic Party will only get our votes because they are the lesser of two evils. There are certainly many other equally important issues; however, I mentioned the marriage and adoption rights because they are what is affecting me most at this time. I guess I would suggest that Ellen ask Hillary what is legal about putting "civil rights" to a vote of the people (i.e. state ballot initiatives). Civil rights is a federal issue and shouldn’t be up to a vote an ANY level. Explain yourself Hillary.

I wouldn't necessarily comment on Ellen because I am not aware of how she supports the community in her private life outside of the show. The show is not on Logo and is not geared toward a gay audience. I am not defined, outside of the mainstream right wing thought, by my sexuality and don't make that a talking point in my professional life. i do show that I am a decent person by my actions and that in and of itself is sometimes enough to change the mindset of others. I personally don't watch her show any longer but certainly respect her and her partner. Let's not forget what she did on her sitcom .. that was earth shattering and a first on television (i.e. coming out). Isn't that enough? Let's not put all the weight on her shoulders, she did something huge. What about all of the other closeted gays in the industry who hide and don't stand up for the community? THAT would change minds.

Bottom line, the best thing for this country is to put the Bibles and Christians back in churches and out of politics. We left England and started the U.S. because forced religion on the public. The ancestors of those who fled are not the ones doing the same thing in the political arena. Oh, but the difference obviously is .. it matters WHO is the one controlling. We have become what we ran from.
  6. Dear Mrs. Hillary

What would you do about the victims of Hurricane Katrina that are still going through the same hardships that they faced 2 years ago that the nation has seemed to have forgotten?
  7. What reason could you possibly have for not promising to repeal the homophobic Defence of Marriage Act?
  8. I tried submitting this but it wouldn't go throug so I'm posting it here...

You say you would allow gay servicemembers to be open about their oreintation. How would this affect members with civil unions/marriages?
would the military recognize gay marriage? Straight married couples serving in the military are sometimes offered co-location were they can be stationed together if not near eachother; would gay member be offered co-location? Deployments are a big issue right now, how would that affect gay servicemembers ( a couple )serving in the same unit, especially if they have kids, would gay partners be given seperation pay also?
I wanted to go career once I joined but am now opting to get out because I want to get married, if the military would recognize gay marriage and to serve openly then I would consider re-enlistment.
  9. What criteria will you use to select nominees for the federal bench and the Supreme Court?
  10. Dearest Ellen,

I would like you to ask Senator Clinton,

Do you believe that the Bush Administration has placed our country in a constitutional crisis and if so, what do you intend to do to restore the balance of powers back to the founders intentions of ‘checks and balances’ or do you intend to just step into all of the (stolen) executive 'privileges' that this Bush regime asserts as it’s own . Will you list the
crimes for us and let us know how our laws have been restored???

    For example:
    'Signing statements'
    The right of Habeas corpus
    the Geneva Convention
Secret policy decisions... ie Energy Policies, massive NO BID contracts
Etc, etc, etc……. on ad nauseam….

Don’t you agree that by “NOT impeaching” this administration for high crimes against our constitution, you legitimize the trashing of our laws, and make it that much easier for the next administration in power to continue to break and unravel our laws without impunity and to suit there own ‘ideology’…. just wondering. What is more important than maintaining our constitution? I really would like to know.

Why did the founding fathers mention IMPEACHMENT so many times in our CONTSITUTION?? To protect US from exactly what Cheney and Rove et. al.
have put into motion. And that motion NEEDS TO BE STOPPED dead in its tracks.
It’s the Constitution, stupid!! It’s the LAWS, stupid!!!!

    Just a side,
If I were sitting with Hillary, just chatting, I would ask her…
Doesn’t it make you nuts that in only 3 months with about a 32% backing in the house and senate, they impeached Bill over (virtually) NOTHING, And that with this huge list of provable constitutional violations as well as a house and senate that was voted you in specifically to STOP THESE GUYS, that nobody is willing to IMPEACH??? What could be more important than this. You may be afraid of being accused of ‘pay-back’ but so what?? You want the absolute powers too? What if they steal the next election ???
Don’t you see that if it is not stopped now there will be no turning back. Just wondering……

Thank you for this opportunity to ‘ASK HILLARY’…
PS: I love you, Ellen !!!! We ALL do !!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. ellen please ask hillary commit once and for all to immediate withdrawal of trops from iraq and if it means stop funding then do it...how many more soldiers are worth the oil no body can pump.
  12. why would a tv host who is queer and doesn't discuss anything about queer sexuality on her own show be of any service to a community that needs a politician to speak/act on behalf of queer issues, but who also chooses not to?

both women do what works for their own careers.
    yawn...
let the ellen show write their own fluffy-lame questions to and for the dominant culture (their audience and sponsors).

i wish ellen wouldn't associate herself with the queer community when clearly we aren't worth mentioning on her own show.
ellen you're as phony as the color of your hair!

and as for hilary, you can hear her balls clank when she walks.

    feh
