Senator Larry Craig does not want any boy-toys

Confession time: I feel sorry for Idaho Sen. Larry Craig. Laugh if you must but there is something sad and tragic about a 62-year-old man getting caught in an airport restroom allegedly looking for a little man loving. Then having to announce to the world, with his wife at his side, that’s he not into man booty and it’s all a mistake. That’s a trip no one deserves to take.

Unfortunately for Craig, Christopher Renz is not such a soft touch. Prosecutor Renz is opposing Craig’s attempt to reverse his guilty plea and argues he told the senator that maybe he should seek legal counsel.

“The defendant told Mr. Renz that he felt he was in a difficult situation as the result of the public office he held, in response to which Mr. Renz said that he appreciated that difficulty and for that reason the defendant should consult with an attorney,” Renz wrote in court papers that were filed yesterday.

Ever since this whole sordid affair has been in the news, Craig has said his original guilty plea was something he did because he panicked. Whatever. While I feel sorry for the senator from Idaho I wish he came up with excuses that didn’t play us for fools. Anyway a judge is going to consider Craig’s wish tomorrow.
