Papa Gibson Hearts Ron Paul

Most of the time I write my hard-hitting political analysis in the morning. Pre-dawn ain’t my best time and there are moments when I need to read something a few times over. Why? Because I’m convinced there must be a morning mis-reading.

The story of Mel Gibson’s Daddy endorsing Ron Paul counts as one of those stories that was read multiple times.

“I intend to tell my 10 children and my 48 grandchildren that the only way to save the country is to vote for Ron Paul in 2008,” the elder Gibson says in a video endorsement.

Don’t know any Gibson’s but want to offer my condolences because the image of this man yapping about Paul to the family is both funny and sad, especially considering the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday.

I heard you Paw-Paw the first time. A Gibson can only vote for Paul. You’ve said it like a ga-billion times. I’m not deaf you know. Daaaaad. Make him stop. Please pass the turkey.

Despite the Saturday Night Live potential, Paul best be careful. Endorsements from guys who have a history of kooky comments—Hutton Gibson has opined on the Holocaust being fiction—tend not to be worth the hassle.

  1. This is old news, but I'll play anyway. Comments by Mel's unknown and insignificant kook of a father look sane and reasonable compared to what comes out of the mouth of Mr. Pat Robertson who was embraced tightly by supposed leader Rudy Giuliani.
