The Hillary-bashing “1984″ ad was one of the year’s first viral video sensations, way back in March.
Make no mistake. This presidential campaign has already changed the face of politics. Remember back when there was no YouTube, no televised debates every other day, no Facebook or MySpace profiles of the candidates? How did we all cope? Did we actually buy newspapers? Ack!
Over the holiday NYTimes.com whipped up a nifty little Top Ten List of the year’s best video-based campaign moments. From “Obama Girl” to that Obama/Hillary “1984″ Apple-spoofing ad to Huckabee’s Xmas ad (behold the glowing holy bookcase!) to talking snowmen it was the year the YouTube rewrote the rules.
This is only bound to get better as Iowa, New Hampshire and all the rest come barrelling through, too.
Lights! Webcam! Action!

YouTube, while viewed by more than all the Networks (the Media 666) combined, including Viacom who owns this site, has appeal to the outside candidates for "Change" like Howard Dean and more recently Barack Obama, it is the Rank and File and often over 40 year olds who determine election outcomes while the myopic media shakes its head that the "Youthquake" never happened.....again. Iowan voters are way over-catered to and the voters still on the fence are probably more desirous of their own 15 minutes of reality-tv fame. Hillary is "Rank and File" which are the lever-pullers while Barack who has gone largely unscathed with his wife Oprah (oops) Michelle by his side, has reached his arc and the true fight may be for the Vice Presidency of which he deserves. I was a supporter of his but switched back to tried and democratic true-blue Hillary because the rebuttal to Donnie Maclurkin, Ex-Gay minister and dangerous religious zealot raised money for Barack which he accepted, yet chastised too little and too late. The Black Church has evolved into a bastion of Bush-style homophobia despite being a once tolerant gay haven. Barack was too weak in standing up to this hypocracy while many of our Gay Brothers are dying of AIDS and employment discrimination. So, when we wonder what happened to the Revolution, people will be reminded that America wants tried and trusted Change. Hillary is unanimously supported by Gays as the best candidate to be on all of our sides with the wisest of us knowing thatg Gay Marriage is Dead in the Water until maybe the end of her 8 year legacy. She is intelligent, media-tested and tough and the most Presidential candidate of both parties at this moment in time. The Hillary Ascendancy will happen despite the snarky press and their secret agenda to consolidate the media even more including the threat to the democratic process of the internet. The YouTubers probably did know that but we Rank and File Gay Democrats who have been in the trenches for the last 7 years know where our bread is buttered.
